On a very cold day,during a very cold winter,

在寒冷的冬季里，有一天天气非常的冷，

sheets of ice float on the Vistula River and out toward the Baltic Sea.

维斯瓦河上漂浮着大片大片的浮冰，缓缓向着波罗的海漂去。

Something is moving in the water!

水里有个东西在动!

What is it?

那是什么?

Is it a bird? No.

是小鸟吗?不是。

A fish? No

是鱼吗?不是。

It's a DOG!

是一只狗!

A little dog is adrift on the ice!

漂浮的冰面上有一只小狗。

"Can anybody help? Please, help Dog!"

“谁来帮帮忙?快呀，救救那只狗!”

The firemen come to help.

消防员来帮忙了。

They go into the river, trying to reach Dog.

他们淌进冰河，试着接近那只狗。

But the river flows too fast.

但是河水流得太急了。

The little dog floats away with the current,

小狗顺着河流

past the people and past the buildings.

漂过人群，漂过城镇，

Dog leaves everyone behind.

Night comes and goes.

天黑了，天又亮了。

Dog's thick fur keeps him warm.

But Dog is wet and tired and hungry.

And he is scared.

A ship is coming!

The crew sees something on the ice.

Is it a seal? No.

It has four legs, ears, and a tail.

"It's a dog! Let's help him!"
